X-Particles Pipeline Diagnostics
The Vision
To truly harness procedural physics systems, look-development must extend beyond finished lighting and rendering; it requires a systematic study of the backend solvers.
The goal of this extensive research project was to build a comprehensive diagnostic blueprint directly within the Cinema 4D viewport—testing the limits of custom velocity paths, fragmentation constraints, and network arrays to map out reliable solutions for tight production deadlines.
The Technical Approach & System Mapping
The study isolates raw particle data from texturing filters, allowing for precise structural analysis of individual solver behaviors. By documenting each module's interaction models, I built a modular reference pipeline that streamlines complex visual turnarounds.
The project systematically charts and maps specific workflows across the X-Particles architecture:
● Dynamics Frameworks: Structural setups tracking xpClothFX for mesh tearing , gaseous-to-particle grid advection using xpExplosiaFX , and complex boundary metrics via xpFluidFX.
● Generators & Modifiers: Testing cellular automation configurations with xpCellAuto , precise geometric fracturing via xpShatter , and vector-driven spline trails using xpTrail meshes.
●Tag & Constraint Rules: Fine-tuning object friction boundaries with the xpCollider engine and rigging keyframeless motion networks via xpDynamics solvers.
